Texas Tower 4 (ADC ID: TT-4) was a United States Air Force Texas Tower General Surveillance Radar station, located 63 miles (101 km) south-southwest off the coast of Long Island, New York in 185 feet (56 m) of water. The tower was the site of an accident and was destroyed by a winter storm on January 15, 1961. None of the twenty-eight airmen and civilian contractors who were manning the station survived.
How it works:
We will be doing 2 days of New Jersey diving! The main dive, of course, is the Texas Tower. Closer to the departure date the captain will choose the best day available for the trip. One day will be the Texas Tower and the other day will be another wreck 180ft or less. The price includes 2 days of diving and you must commit to both days. What's included: 2 days of boat diving off the NJ Coast What's not included: Dive gear rental Gases Lodging Transportation Meals Tips for crew (15-20% recommend) Requirements: Extended Range or Trimix Certification DAN Accident Insurance Proper Gear for the Diving Conditions Deposit/Payments Spots are limited and are reserved by deposit only. If all spots are filled you can be placed on a waiting list. A non-refundable deposit of $275 will be due when you sign up. The final payment of $275 will be due June 21st. You will be refunded in full (minus credit/debit card fees). Safety is the primary goal. We cannot guarantee good visibility or weather conditions. The captain will try to make a definite decision a day or two before the trip, so that travel plans can be canceled if necessary. There are no refunds for seasickness or if you choose not to dive. |
Special Considerations
*The Texas Tower is around 65 miles offshore. We will have a 5am leave time and will be back that evening. We go to a restaurant for a celebratory meal after the dive (dutch meal), and we would love for you to join if you can! *We do 1 long dive each day (Your run time is up to you). *The max depth is 180 *Water temp is low to mid 50's Equipment Considerations There are no dive shops near-by that can do gas fills required for this dive. Please have all your fills ready for both days before hand. If you need help getting gear to NJ, renting additional cylinders, or gear, please contact us and we will help! Boat Considerations *There is a marine head on board *Water is provided *Bring lots of snacks and other drinks *There is a cooler on board.
